NFL Schedule 2014: Nobody Knows How Difficult the Schedule Really Is

It feels like this is the time when every fan is trying to figure out how difficult his or her team's schedule will be. I can't blame anybody for doing it. Nobody really knows, though. The criteria always seems to be the opponents' records from the year before, but they are not meaningful. The NFL is a league where bad teams get good and good teams get bad overnight. In a typical NFL season around half the teams that made the Playoffs the year before fail to qualify.Think about it. When the schedule came out last year Atlanta looked like a much stiffer challenge than Carolina. This happ…

2014 NFL Draft: Don't Expect the Jets to Invest in an Explosive Edge Rusher

This year's NFL Draft has some great edge rushing talent. The top end players might require the Jets to trade up. It is a tantalizing idea. The Jets have plenty of beef up front. Add an explosive talent to fly in from the outside linebacker position, and the other defense has problems. You can't double team Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and an outside linebacker all at once. Somebody will have a favorable matchup. Don't get your hopes up, though. It certainly would go against the Jets' philosophy to take an outside linebacker. In five years, the Jets have never used a pick on s…
